Golfers of all caliber say the layout of The Calabogie Highlands Golf Course plays with a forgiving nature. Kentucky Blue Grass fairways are generously wide allowing for a right or left hand slice or hook to stay in play. But not every hole is a tee to green walk in the park. Some challenge with left or right doglegs. Some have water, trees and bunkers along the fairways or guarding the greens. If you enjoy walking, the front nine is comfortable pushing or carrying clubs. The back nine has a few more hills.
Greens of an "Elite" blend of grass putt fairly true and for their elevation, run at a medium speed. Green size, slope and shape change with each hole. Two cuts of rough line the fairways. The secondary is light then it blends into a primary deeper grass. Mature pine, birch, popular, spruce, red & yellow maple, apple trees, plum trees, flowering bushes and flower beds add a depth of maturity and visible appeal to the course.
